DEFINITION: A storyboard is a visual representation of your ideas and provides creator with key details about what to film and how.
 
You can use stick people or more detailed drawings as long as the drawing matches the shot type and angle you're after. The more detail you can include, the easier it is for the camera person to use your storyboard to film the shots you have planned.

KEY FEATURES:
Image of the shot composition (simple sketch or more detailed)
Shot Number
Type of shot and angle
Camera movement. You can use thick white arrows to show movement of camera and thin black arrows for movement of objects
Brief description about what’s happening in the shot
Duration (timing of how long the shot is going to last)
Sound (dialogue, voice over, music, SFX)
Transition (how will you get from one shot to the next – cut, fade, dissolve, fade to black)
EXTRA: Notes on lighting, special effects, info for the editor
