DEFINITION: A shot list is basically the to-do list for filming. It breaks down everything the director and crew need to capture on set, shot by shot.
 
It’s less visual than a storyboard (no drawings) but much more practical for production.

KEY FEATURES:
Scene & Shot Number
– Helps keep shots in order (e.g. Scene 3, Shot 12).
Shot Type & Angle
– Wide shot, medium shot, close-up, low angle etc
Camera Movement
– Pan, tilt, dolly, handheld, over-the-shoulder
Time of Day
– afternoon, evening, morning
Shot Description
– A short note on what’s being filmed (e.g. “Protagonist opens the door”).
Audio Notes
– Dialogue, sound effects or music cues.
Duration
– Especially useful for music videos or ads where rhythm matters.
Extra Notes
– Props, costumes, lighting, or special effects needed for that shot.
